"Bringing the Magic of the Stage to the Website of a 40+ Year Theater"

Project Overview

Seacoast Repertory Theatre is a vibrant, eclectic nonprofit that has been a cornerstone of Portsmouth, NH's creative scene for over 40 years. Despite their rich history and dynamic performances on stage, their previous website failed to reflect the creativity and excitement of their in-person shows.

The goal was clear: we needed to design a website that would capture the same energy and artistry that their audiences experience at their performances. This site needed to attract visitors, showcase upcoming events, and serve as an essential hub for ticket sales, all while feeling like an extension of the theatre's artistic brand.

Our Solution

Squarespace for Nonprofits & Creative Organizations
  • Creative Visuals: We incorporated background video elements and dynamic visuals that mirror the theater's eclectic and artistic spirit. These elements brought the excitement of their productions to life, enticing visitors to experience the magic themselves.

  • Optimized for Ticket Sales: We integrated seamless ticket sales into the website, making it easier for visitors to book their seats for upcoming performances. This was a critical step to streamline the process for both staff and patrons.

  • Event Showcasing: The new website has a dedicated section to showcase upcoming events and productions, ensuring that Seacoast Rep’s vibrant schedule is easily accessible to visitors.

  • Smooth Transition: Seacoast Rep’s website was previously built on WordPress, which was becoming increasingly difficult to manage. We successfully transitioned the site to Squarespace, simplifying the backend and improving the site’s stability, so it wouldn’t be just “one click away from breaking.”

  • Mobile-Responsive Design: The new website is fully optimized for mobile users, allowing patrons to easily view the schedule, purchase tickets, and learn about upcoming shows while on the go.

Results

  • Enhanced User Experience: The new design has made it easier for audiences to find what they need, whether it's buying tickets or learning about the next show. The creative visuals now match the high-energy performances that Seacoast Rep is known for.

  • Better Website Management: The transition from WordPress to Squarespace has made website management much more streamlined and user-friendly for the staff. They can now update show schedules, integrate media, and keep content fresh with ease.

  • Increased Engagement: The website is now a key tool in promoting performances, and ticket sales have become easier and more intuitive for users.
