What’s the difference between cheap and cost-effective websites?
You don't need to break the bank in order to get a quality website. But don’t mistake cost-effective marketing for cheap marketing.
Falling for Cheap Web Design
Business owners feel the pressure to take the cheapest marketing option in order to maintain their budget. They don't realize the long-lasting effects on their business and brand. While they feel better about saving a few dollars, over time they wonder why they can’t attract better clients or genuinely grow their business profits.
As a kid, my dad used to tell me, “If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.” Unfortunately, so many business owners fall for the cheapest option anyway. They feel good in the short term but they end up disappointed with the outcome. The designs are inconsistent and ineffective. The hallmark of a business that works this way is inconsistency - from their misaligned brand, clunky website and impersonal social media messaging. Most importantly, their investment does nothing to improve the bottom line.
Investing in Cost-Effective Web Design
Instead of looking for the cheapest option today, look for the investment that will bring you a great return over the next 6-12 months. A cost effective approach to marketing means creating something for less money than it would normally take while still maintaining high standards.
The Small Business Administration (SBA) actually suggests small businesses invest 1% to 12% of revenue in marketing & design services. We aren’t saying that you should spend $50k on your next website, but I encourage you to come to the table with an open mind. Consider the following math:
If you invested $3k in your marketing and it increased your business by $10k, that’s $7k profit. A good start!
But if you invested 10k in your marketing and grew your business by $50k, your profit would be $40k!
What business owner wouldn’t go for that kind of math? And yet so many take the first option out of fear of investing. Don’t fall into the trap of cheap marketing. Be wise and select a cost-effective partner who understands your budgeting considerations but will help you grow to the the most profitable.
Here is the reality for your business:
A quality brand attracts quality customers
A slow and strong brand is better than a rushed and cheap brand.
Investing in your website and digital marketing yields more than you imagine.
Building your site the right way once every five years is better than having to redevelop it every year because you cut corners!
